Increased digitalisation has led to widespread improvements in well-being and quality of life.

However, at the same time, all trust surveys have registered an alarming decrease in trust in science and technology, organisational competence in cybersecurity, and significant concern regarding the use of the use of new technologies. Regulators and standards setting bodies are acting.

Without concrete and significant action to earn digital trust, the future for organisations and society as a whole is bleak.

Increasing numbers of cyber related incidents are painting a grim picture to customers/stakeholders and associated trust is being eroded. Regulatory reporting requirements are increasing, globally and as a result, societal awareness of the impact of poor cybersecurity practices is at an all time high.

There is a flip side to that of course. Organisations need to commit to earning the trust of consumers/stakeholders through appropriate cyber/information security management and demonstrable competence.
